What can be more dangerous than that which arrives quietly and unannounced...that which works on one's subconscious...depositing its poisons deep within, the affects of which only rear their ugly heads years later in the form of eating disorders, mood disorders, lack of self-esteem and a general disposition of "non-enlightened" and most definitely just "not happy."
Well, here is one such source, I'd posture: The Princess Complex.

Another excellent interview by Terry Gross. This time she tackled a large range of topics and dabbled into the personal history of Evergreen State College in Washington's professor and author Stephanie Coontz.
Coontz's new book, A Strange Stirring: The Feminine Mystique and American Women at the Dawn of the 1960s, seems to be an excellent collection of interviews and reflections of the affects of Betty Friedan's now notorious description of the "problem without a name."

The National Association of Headteachers (NAHT) is telling its members to be more willing to take on the adult bullies.

Abstract
Ellen Pence has crafted the Praxis Safety and Accountability Audit (Safety Audit) on the social change foundation of the battered women’s movement, the idea of a coordinated community response to domestic violence, and institutional ethnography’s emphasis on asking questions from the standpoint of people in their everyday lives. Conducted by an interagency team of advocates and practitioners, the Safety Audit uses interviews, observations, and text analysis to examine the ways in which institutions standardize and coordinate workers’ actions to produce interventions and outcomes that enhance or diminish safety for battered women and their children. With the Safety Audit, Pence has provided a new and distinctive tool for community change.

Public outrage forced M-Net to boot controversial Big Brother All Stars housemate Hannington Kuteesa off the show yesterday after he hit and shoved a fellow female contestant early this week.
And the woman he hit has been banned from drinking alcohol for the rest of the series.
Civil society groups, including People Opposing Women Abuse (Powa) and the Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre, criticised M-Net this week after it allowed Ugandan Kuteesa to remain in the show after an altercation with South Africa's Lerato Sengadi on Tuesday night that left her with bleeding gums, only providing the pair with a psychologist to 'guide them'."
